Miraculous Renewal of the Icon "The Savior Not Made by Hands" In the Boris-Glib Monastery of the Izyum Eparchy

On July 20, 1997, in the Boriso-Glebsky Convent in the village of Vodyane in the Slobozhanshchyna region, an amazing renovation of the icon "The Savior Not Made by Hands" took place. An extraordinary event occurred during the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, which was led by Hegumen Sebastian (Shcherbakov).

Previously, the icon belonged to Oleksandra Proskurina, who lived in the village of Chervona Polyana, Zmiyiv district, Slobozhanshchyna. This ancient icon of the Byzantine style, painted on a wooden board, was inherited from her parents. During the Second World War, the front line passed through the village, so Alexandra Proskurina lowered all the icons into the cellar of the house along with other things, and she herself went to the village of Mokhnach, saving lives.

After returning to her native village, she found the ruins themselves from her house. All things and icons in the cellar were damaged, only a pile of ashes remained, but miraculously the icon of the Image Not Made by Hands was not damaged by the fiery flame that destroyed everything. From the fire and adverse conditions, the icon darkened and was in this form with Oleksandra Proskurina until the feast of the Nativity of Christ in 1997. On January 9, the servant of God Alexandra handed over her beloved shrine to the Church of Saints Boris and Gleb. There it was installed in the upper place, where it was until the time of its Divine renewal.

On Sunday, July 20, when the Holy Gospel was read at the Liturgy, parishioners of the church Ksenia Kanonnikova, Iryna Malko and others saw the glow of bright golden light in the form of a flash and felt as if the movement of an air wave with a quiet rustle. It happened instantly and was clearly palpable. At the time of this apparition, their souls were filled with profound peace and reverential fear, and they decided to confess so as not to fall into the devil's delusion.

The first to see the actual renewal of the icon during the singing of the Cherubic Song were the monk Andriy Pestunov and the nine-year-old boy Mykola Zabrodsky. According to them, the icon shone with a bright, golden glow, after which previously imperceptible inscriptions appeared, and on the sides, in mirrors, the faces of the Archangel Michael and the Archangel Raphael appeared. The icon began to emit an incense that lasted for five days, and the gilding of the icon took on a bright appearance.

On August 5, 1997, with the blessing of Metropolitan Nikodim of Kharkiv and Bohodukhiv, a diocesan commission was formed, which witnessed the amazing renewal of the image, collected eyewitness testimonies about it and drew up a corresponding act.

On October 28 of the same year, Bishop Nikodim's report on the renewal of the icon was heard at a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. It was decided to consider the icon "The Savior Not Made by Hands", which is in the Boryso-Glibsky Monastery of the Kharkiv diocese, miraculous and to bless its liturgical veneration in the Sloboda region. Also at that time, the troparion, kontakion, magnification and service in memory of the miraculous renewal of the icon were approved and its church celebration was established on July 7, the day when the miracle took place.

Чудотворне Оновлення Ікони «Спас Нерукотворний» у Борисо-Глібському Монастирі Ізюмської Єпархії

20 липня 1997 року в Борисо-Глібському жіночому монастирі, що в селі Водяне на Слобожанщині, відбулося дивовижне оновлення ікони «Спас Нерукотворний». Надзвичайна подія сталася під час звершення Божественної літургії, яку очолював ігумен Севастіан (Щербаков).

Раніше ікона належала Олександрі Проскуріній, яка жила в селі Червона Поляна Зміївського району на Слобожанщині. Ця давня ікона візантійського стилю, написана на дерев'яній дошці, дісталася їй від батьків. У роки Другої світової війни по селу проходила лінія фронту, тому Олександра Проскуріна всі ікони опустила в льох будинку разом з іншими речами, а сама пішла до села Мохнач, рятуючи життя.

Після повернення до рідного села вона застала від свого будинку самі розвалини. Всі речі й ікони в льоху постраждали, залишилася тільки купка попелу, але дивовижним чином ікона Нерукотворного Образа не була пошкоджена вогненним полум'ям, яке знищило все. Від пожежі й несприятливих умов ікона потемнішала і в такому вигляді перебувала у Олександри Проскуріної до свята Різдва Христового 1997 року. 9 січня раба Божа Олександра передала свою улюблену святиню до храму святих Бориса і Гліба. Там вона була встановлена на горньому місці, де й знаходилася до часу свого Божественного оновлення.

У неділю 20 липня, коли за Літургією читали Святе Євангеліє, парафіянки храму Ксенія Каноннікова, Ірина Малько та інші побачили сяйво яскравого золотистого світла у вигляді спалаху і відчули немовби рух повітряної хвилі з тихим шелестом. Це відбулося миттєво і було явно відчутно. Під час цього явлення їхні душі сповнилися глибоким миром та благоговійним страхом, і вони вирішили посповідатися, аби не впасти в диявольську оману.

Першими власне оновлення ікони побачили під час співу Херувимської пісні пономар Андрій Пестунов і дев'ятирічний отрок Миколай Забродський. За їхніми словами, ікона сяяла яскравим, золотистим сяйвом, після чого проступили раніше непомітні написи, а по боках, у дзеркалах, з'явилися лики Архістратига Михаїла й архангела Рафаїла. Ікона стала видавати пахощі, які трималися п'ять днів, і позолота ікони набула світлого вигляду.

5 серпня 1997 року за благословенням митрополита Харківського і Богодухівського Никодима була утворена єпархіальна комісія, яка засвідчила дивовижне оновлення образа, зібрала свідчення про нього очевидців і склала відповідний акт.

28 жовтня того ж року доповідь владики Никодима про оновлення ікони було заслухано на засіданні Священного Синоду Української Православної Церкви. Було ухвалено вважати ікону «Спас Нерукотворний», що в Борисо-Глібському монастирі Харківської єпархії, чудотворною і благословити її богослужбове шанування в Слобідському краї. Також тоді було затверджено тропар, кондак, величання і службу на пам'ять про дивовижне оновлення ікони і встановлено її церковне святкування 7 липня, в день, коли відбулося чудо.
