Reader: Brethren, we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, you are God's building. According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. Reader: Brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and patience. Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful. But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your "Yes" be "Yes," and your "No," "No," lest you fall into judgment. Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit. Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.

Браття, ми співробітники у Бога, а ви Божа нива, Божа будова. Я, за даною мені від Бога благодаттю, як мудрий будівник, поклав основу, а інший будує на ній; але хай кожний пильнує, як він будує. Бо ніхто не може покласти іншої основи, крім покладеної, яка є Ісус Христос. Чи будує хто на цій основі із золота, срібла, дорогоцінних каменів, дерева, сіна, соломи,– діло кожного виявиться; бо день покаже, тому що у вогні відкривається, і вогонь випробовує діло кожного, яке воно є. У кого діло, яке він будував, устоїть, той одержить нагороду. А в кого діло згорить, той зазнає втрати; а втім сам спасеться, але так, ніби з вогню. Хіба ж не знаєте, що ви храм Божий, і Дух Божий живе в вас? Якщо хто зруйнує храм Божий, того покарає Бог: бо храм Божий святий, а цей храм – ви.

З Послання Якова (5:10-20)

Браття, візьміть за приклад тяжкі страждання і довготерпіння пророків, які говорили ім'ям Господнім. Ось, ми ублажаємо тих, які терпіли. Ви чули про терпіння Іова і бачили кінець його від Господа; бо Господь дуже милосердний і жалісливий. Перш за все, браття мої, не кляніться ні небом, ні землею, ні іншою якою клятвою, а хай буде у вас: «так, так»; і «ні, ні», щоб вам не зазнати осудження. Хто з вас тяжко страждає, хай молиться. Хто в доброму настрої, хай співає псалми. Хто з вас хворий, хай покличе пресвітерів Церкви і хай помоляться над ним, помазавши його єлеєм в ім'я Господнє. І молитва віри зцілить хворого і підведе його Господь; і, якщо він гріхи вчинив, простяться йому. Признавайтесь один одному в провинах і моліться один за одного, щоб зцілитися: бо багато може посилена молитва праведного. Ілля був чоловік, подібний до нас, і помолився молитвою, щоб не було дощу: і не було дощу на землю три роки і шість місяців (3 Цар. 17,1). І знову помолився: і небо дало дощ, і земля зростила плід свій (3 Цар. 18,42,45). Браття! якщо хто з вас відхилиться від істини, і хтось наверне його, хай той знає, що хто повернув грішника з невірної путі його, спасе душу від смерті і покриє безліч гріхів.

Від Матфея 14:22-34

І зараз же звелів Ісус учням Своїм сісти в човен і відправитись раніш Нього на той бік, поки Він відпустить народ. І, відпустивши народ, Він зійшов на гору помолитися на самоті; і ввечері залишався там один. А човен був уже на середині моря, і било його хвилями, бо вітер був зустрічний. У четверту ж сторожу ночі пішов Ісус до них, ідучи по морю. І учні, побачивши, що Він іде по морю, стривожились і говорили: це привид; і зі страху скрикнули. Але Ісус зараз же заговорив до них і сказав: заспокойтесь! це Я, не бійтеся. Петро сказав Йому у відповідь: Господи! якщо це Ти, звели мені прийти до Тебе по воді. Він же сказав: іди. І, вийшовши з човна, Петро пішов по воді, щоб підійти до Ісуса, та, побачивши сильний вітер, злякався, і, коли почав тонути, закричав: Господи, спаси мене! Ісус зараз же простяг руку, підтримав його і говорить йому: маловірний! чого ти засумнівався? І, як увійшли вони в човен, вітер стих. Ті, що були в човні, підійшли, поклонилися Йому й сказали: воістину Ти Син Божий. Переправившись, вони прибули в землю Геннісаретську.

From Luke 4:22-30;

So all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, "Is this not Joseph's son?" He said to them, "You will surely say this proverb to Me, 'Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in Your country.' " Then He said, "Assuredly, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own country. But I tell you truly, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a great famine throughout all the land; but to none of them was Elijah sent except to Zarephath, in the region of Sidon , to a woman who was a widow. And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian." So all those in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, and rose up and thrust Him out of the city; and they led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw Him down over the cliff. Then passing through the midst of them, He went His way.
