When You descended to death, Life Immortal, You slew Hades with the splendor of Your Divinity. And when from the depths You raised the dead, all the Powers of Heaven cried out: Giver of life, Christ our God, glory to You.

You were transfigured on the mountain, Christ God, revealing Your Glory to Your disciples as far as they could bear it. Let Your Everlasting Light shine on us sinners. Through the prayers of the Birth-Giver of God, Giver of Light, glory to You.

In the troubles of a vain life, / amidst worldly turmoil and the passionate desires that arise, / you seemed to be a citizen of the wilderness of the Holy Mountains, / having taken upon yourself the heavy toil of solitude; / you were a guide for many who are monastically inclined, / O John the Recluse; / be our intercessor for our souls.

When You were transfigured on the mountain, Christ God, Your disciples saw as much of Your Glory as they could bear. So that when they looked upon You being crucified, they would understand that You suffered freely and proclaim to the world that You are indeed the radiance of the Father's Glory.

Reader: Brethren, if I am not an apostle to others, yet doubtless I am to you. For you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord. My defense to those who examine me is this: Do we have no right to eat and drink? Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas? Or is it only Barnabas and I who have no right to refrain from working? Who ever goes to war at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat of its fruit? Or who tends a flock and does not drink of the milk of the flock? Do I say these things as a mere man? Or does not the law say the same also? For it is written in the law of Moses, "You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain." Is it oxen God is concerned about? Or does He say it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written, that he who plows should plow in hope, and he who threshes in hope should be partaker of his hope. If we have sown spiritual things for you, is it a great thing if we reap your material things? If others are partakers of this right over you, are we not even more?

Reader: Brethren, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Браття, якщо для інших я не Апостол, то для вас Апостол; бо печать мого апостольства – ви у Господі. Ось мій захист проти тих, що осуджують мене. Хіба ми не маємо влади їсти і пити? Хіба не маємо влади мати супутницею сестру – жінку, як і інші Апостоли, і брати Господні, і Кифа? Або один я та Варнава не маємо влади не трудитися? Який воїн служить коли небудь на своєму утриманні? Хто, насадивши виноград, не їсть плодів його? Хто, пасучи стадо, не їсть молока від стада? Чи тільки за людським міркуванням я це кажу? Чи не те ж говорить і закон? Бо в Мойсеєвому законі написано: не закривай рота у вола, що молотить (Втор. 25,4). Чи про волів турбується Бог? Чи, звичайно, ради нас говориться? Так, для нас це написано; бо хто оре, повинен орати з надією, і хто молотить, повинен молотити з надією одержати те, чого чекає. Якщо ми посіяли у вас духовне, то, чи велике те, коли пожнемо у вас тілесне? Якщо інші мають у вас владу, чи не більше ми? Однак ми не користувалися цією владою, а все терпимо, щоб не поставити якоїсь перешкоди благовістю Христовому.
З Посла́ння до Галатів Свято́го Апо́стола Павла́ чита́ння (5:22-6:2)
Браття, плід же духа є: любов, радість, мир, довготерпіння, благість, милосердя, віра, лагідність, стриманість. На таких нема закону. Але ті, котрі Христові, плоть свою розп'яли з пристрастями й похотями. Якщо ми живемо духом, то за духом повинні й діяти. Не будемо марнославні, один одного дратувати, один одному заздрити. Браття! якщо і впаде людина в якийсь гріх, ви, духовні, виправляйте такого в дусі лагідності, пильнуючи кожний себе, щоб і ти не був спокушений. Носіть тягарі один одного і так здійсните закон Христовий.

Від Матвія 18:23-35
Тому Царство Небесне подібне до царя, який захотів порахуватися з рабами своїми; коли він почав рахуватися, привели до нього одного боржника, який винен був йому десять тисяч талантів; а як він не мав чим заплатити, то господар його звелів продати його, і жінку його, і дітей, і все, що він мав, і заплатити; тоді раб той впав і, кланяючись йому, говорив: господарю! потерпи на мені, і все тобі заплачу. Господар змилосердився над рабом тим, відпустив його і борг простив йому. Раб же той, вийшовши, знайшов одного з товаришів своїх, який був винен йому сто динаріїв, і, схопивши його, душив і казав: віддай мені, що винен. Тоді товариш його впав до ніг його, благав його і говорив: потерпи на мені, і все віддам тобі. Але той не захотів, а пішов і посадив його в темницю, доки не віддасть боргу. Товариші його, побачивши таке, дуже засмутилися і, прийшовши, розповіли своєму господареві все, що сталося. Тоді господар покликав його і каже: злий рабе! весь той борг я простив тобі, бо ти ублагав мене. Чи не належало й тобі помилувати товариша твого, як і я помилував тебе? І, розгнівавшись, господар віддав його мучителям, доки не віддасть йому всього боргу. Так і Отець Мій Небесний учинить з вами, якщо кожен з вас не простить від серця свого братові своєму провин його.
From Luke 6:17-23
And He came down with them and stood on a level place with a crowd of His disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem, and from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear Him and be healed of their diseases, as well as those who were tormented with unclean spirits. And they were healed. And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for power went out from Him and healed them all. Then He lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said: "Blessed are you poor, For yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, For you shall be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, For you shall laugh. Blessed are you when men hate you, And when they exclude you, And revile you, and cast out your name as evil, For the Son of Man's sake. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy! For indeed your reward is great in heaven, For in like manner their fathers did to the prophets.
