Reader: Brethren, I think that God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, as though sentenced to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels and to mortals. We are fools for the sake of Christ, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute. To the present hour we are hungry and thirsty, we are poorly clothed and beaten and homeless, and we grow weary from the work of our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure; when slandered, we speak kindly. We have become like the rubbish of the world, the dregs of all things, to this very day. I am not writing this to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For though you might have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers. Indeed, in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. I appeal to you, then, be imitators of me.

Reader: Son Timothy, you then, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus; and what you have heard from me through many witnesses entrust to faithful people who will be able to teach others as well. Share in suffering like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving in the army gets entangled in everyday affairs; the soldier's aim is to please the enlisting officer. And in the case of an athlete, no one is crowned without competing according to the rules. It is the farmer who does the work who ought to have the first share of the crops. Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in all things.  Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, a descendant of David — that is my gospel, for which I suffer hardship, even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But the word of God is not chained. Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, so that they may also obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

З Першого Посла́ння до Коринфян Свято́го Апо́стола Павла́ чита́ння (4:9-16)

Браття, я думаю, що нам, посланникам останнім, Бог судив бути ніби засудженими на смерть, бо ми стали позорищем світові, Ангелам і людям. Ми безумні Христа ради, а ви мудрі у Христі; ми немічні, а ви міцні; ви у славі, а ми в безчесті. Навіть донині терпимо голод і спрагу, і наготу і побої, і поневіряємось, і трудимось, працюючи своїми руками. Лихословлять нас, ми благословляємо; гонять нас, ми терпимо; ганьблять нас, ми молимось; ми як сміття для світу, як порох, що усі топчуть донині. Це пишу не для того, щоб вас посоромити, а наставляю на розум вас, як дітей моїх улюблених, бо хоч у вас тисячі наставників у Христі, та не багато отців; я родив вас у Христі Ісусі благовістям. З Другого Посла́ння до Тимофія Свято́го Апо́стола Павла́ чита́ння (2:1-10)

Сину Тимофію, отож зміцнюйся у благодаті Христом Ісусом, і що чув від мене при багатьох свідках, те передай вірним людям, які були б спроможні й інших навчити. Отож терпи страждання, як добрий воїн Ісуса Христа. Ніякий воїн не зв'язує себе ділами житейськими, щоб догодити воєначальникові. А якщо хто і подвизається, не увінчається, якщо незаконно буде подвизатися. Трудящому землеробові першому належить вкусити від плодів. Розумій, що я кажу. Хай дасть тобі Господь розуміння в усьому. Пам'ятай Господа Ісуса Христа від сім'я Давидового, що воскрес з мертвих за благовістям моїм, за яке я страждаю навіть до кайданів, як злодій; але для слова Божого нема кайданів. Тому я все терплю заради вибраних, щоб і вони одержали спасіння в Христі Ісусі з вічною славою.

Від Матфея 17:14-23

Коли вони прийшли до народу, то підійшов до Нього чоловік і, ставши перед Ним на коліна, сказав: Господи! помилуй сина мого; він у час нового місяця біснується і тяжко страждає, бо часто кидається у вогонь і часто у воду; я приводив його до учнів Твоїх, та вони не змогли зцілити його. Ісус же, відповідаючи, сказав: о, роде невірний і розбещений! доки буду з вами? доки терпітиму вас? приведіть його до Мене сюди. І заборонив йому Ісус, і біс вийшов з нього; і отрок видужав у ту ж мить. Тоді учні, підійшовши до Ісуса на самоті, сказали: чому ми не змогли вигнати його? Ісус же сказав їм: через невір'я ваше; бо істинно кажу вам: якщо ви матимете віру з гірчичне зерно і скажете горі цій: «перейди звідси туди», і вона перейде; і не буде нічого неможливого для вас; цей же рід виганяється тільки молитвою і постом. Під час перебування їх у Галілеї, Ісус сказав їм: Син Людський буде виданий в руки людські, і вб'ють Його, і на третій день воскресне. І вони дуже засмутилися.

From John 15:17-16:2

"These things I command you, that you love one another. If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. He who hates Me hates My Father also. If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father. But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, 'They hated Me without a cause.' But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning. These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble. They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service."
