Heb. 7:26-8:2; Jn. 10:9-16;

Fast-free week.

Resurrectional Tropar, Tone 8

You descended from on High, Merciful One. You accepted the three day burial to free us from our passions. Lord, our Life and Resurrection. Glory to You.

Tropar to St. John, Tone 8

Grace shining forth from your lips like a beacon has enlightened the universe; / it has shone to the world the riches of poverty; / it has revealed to us the heights of humility. / Teaching us by your words, O Father John Chrysostom, / intercede before the Word, Christ our God, to save our souls.

Resurrectional Kondak, Tone 8

By rising from the tomb, You raised up the dead. Adam is risen and Eve exults in Your Resurrection. The entire world celebrates Your rising from the dead, Greatly Merciful One.

Glory ....
Kondak to St. John, Tone 1

Today the holy Church is mystically gladdened by the transfer of your honored relics, / concealing them like precious gold; / and by your intercessions, / she unceasingly imparts the grace of healing unto those who praise you in song, O John Chrysostom.

Now and Ever ....
Kondak from Triodion, Tone 4

Let us flee from the proud boasting of the Pharisee and learn the humility of the Publican. With groaning let us cry out to the Savior: Be merciful to us, for You alone are always ready to forgive.

Prokimens

Priest: Let us be attentive! Peace be with you all!

Reader: And with your spirit!

Deacon: Wisdom!

Reader: The Prokimen in Tone 8: Pray and give glory to the Lord our God.

Choir: (repeats the prokimen)

Reader: V. In Judah God is known; His Name is great in Israel.

Choir: (repeats the prokimen)

Reader: The Second Prokimen in Tone 1: My mouth shall speak wisdom, and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.

Choir: My mouth shall speak wisdom, and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.

Epistles

Deacon: Wisdom!

Reader: The reading is from the Second Letter of St. Paul to Timothy.

Deacon: Let us be attentive.

Reader: Son Timothy, you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Deacon: Wisdom!

Reader: The reading is from the Letter of St. Paul to the Hebrews.

Deacon: Let us be attentive.

Reader: Brethren, for such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens; who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the people's, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. For the law appoints as high priests men who have weakness, but the word of the oath, which came after the law, appoints the Son who has been perfected forever. Now this is the main point of the things we are saying: We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, a Minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord erected, and not man.

Priest: Peace be with you.

Reader: And with your spirit. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

Verse: Come let us rejoice in the Lord. Let us shout with jubilation to God our Savior.

Verse: Let us come before His Face with thanksgiving; with psalms let us shout in jubilation to Him.

Verse: The mouth of the righteous is exercised in wisdom, and his tongue shall speak of judgment.

Communion Verse

Praise the Lord from the Heavens; praise Him in the Highest. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

The righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. They shall not be afraid of any evil report. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

Gospel Reading

Jn. 10:9-16

The Lord said: "I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. "But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. "The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep. "I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. "As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. "And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.
