When the women disciples of the Lord learned from the angel the joyous message of Your Resurrection, they cast away the ancestral curse and with gladness told the apostles: death is overthrown. Christ God is risen, granting the world great mercy.

Your Nativity, Christ our God, has shone to the world the Light of Wisdom. For by it those who worshiped the stars were taught by a star to adore You, the Sun of Righteousness and to know You the Orient from on High. Lord, glory to You.

Joseph, proclaim the great miracles you have witnessed to David the Ancestor of God: You have seen the Virgin with Child, given glory with the shepherds, worshiped with the Magi and an angel of the Lord has appeared to you. Pray to Christ our God to save our souls.

Today, the Virgin gives birth to the Transcendent One and the earth offers a cave to the Unapproachable One. Angels, with shepherds glorify Him. The Magi journey with the star. Since for our sake the Eternal God was born as a little Child.

Reader: Brethren, but I make known to you that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ. For you have heard of my former conduct in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God beyond measure and tried to destroy it. And I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries in my own nation, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers. But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb and called me through His grace, to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood, nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went to Arabia, and returned again to Damascus. Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and remained with him fifteen days. But I saw none of the other apostles except James, the Lord's brother.

Magnify, my Soul, the Most Pure Virgin Birth-Giver of God who is greater in honor and more glorious than the hosts on high.

Irmos, Tone 1: A strange and wonderful mystery do I see: The cave is heaven, the Virgin the Throne of the Cherubim and the manger a room in which Christ, the Uncontainable God, is laid. Him do we praise and magnify.

До гала́тів посла́ння свято́го апо́стола Павла́ чита́ння (1:11-19)

Браття, сповіщаю ж вам, що Євангеліє, яке я благовіствував, не є людське; бо я прийняв його і навчився не від людини, а через одкровення Ісуса Христа. Ви чули про мій попередній спосіб життя в іудействі, що я жорстоко гонив Церкву Божу та спустошував її, і досягав успіхів в іудействі більше за багатьох ровесників у моєму роду, будучи надмірним ревнителем батьківських моїх передань. Коли ж Бог, Котрий вибрав мене від утроби матері моєї і покликав благодаттю Своєю, благоволив відкрити в мені Сина Свого, щоб я благовіствував Його язичникам,– я не став тоді ж радитися з плоттю і кров'ю, і не пішов в Ієрусалим до тих, що стали Апостолами раніше за мене, а пішов до Аравії, і знову повернувся в Дамаск. Потім, через три роки, пішов я до Ієрусалима побачити Петра і пробув у нього днів п'ятнадцять. Іншого з Апостолів я не бачив нікого, крім Якова, брата Господнього.
