Tropar Resurrectional, Tone 4

When the women disciples of the Lord learned from the angel the joyous message of Your Resurrection, they cast away the ancestral curse and with gladness told the apostles: death is overthrown. Christ God is risen, granting the world great mercy.

Tropar of Nativity, Tone 4

Your Nativity, Virgin Birth-Giver of God, has proclaimed joy to the universe. The Sun of Righteousness, Christ our God, has shone forth from you. By annulling the curse, He gave a blessing. By destroying Death, He has granted us Life Eternal.

Tropar of our church, Tone 4

Prophet and Forerunner of the coming of Christ,/ we who honor you with love can find no manner of praising you worthily./ For the barrenness of one who bore you / and the silence of your father have been ended by your being born of divine grace / and you have proclaimed to the world / the Incarnation of the Son of God.

Tropar to St. Joachim & Anna, Tone 1

Since you were righteous under the law of grace, O Joachim and Anna, / you gave birth to the God-given infant for our sake. / Therefore, the divine Church radiantly keeps feast today, / joyfully celebrating your honorable memory and giving glory to God / who has raised up a horn of salvation from the house of David.

Kondak Resurrectional, Tone 4

My Savior and Redeemer as God arose from the tomb and delivered the earthborn from bondage. He has shattered the gates of Hades and, as Master, He has risen on the Third Day.

Kondak of our church, Tone 3

She who was previously barren / now bears the Forerunner of Christ / who is the fulfillment of every prophecy. / For the prophets proclaimed beforehand / that having laid hands on Him in the Jordan, / he would be manifest as Prophet, / Preacher / and Forerunner of the Word of God.

Glory …
Kondak to St. Joachim & Anna, Tone 2

Anna is now no longer barren / and nurses the All-Pure One! / She rejoices and calls us all to sing a hymn of praise to Christ, / she who from her womb gave mankind the only ever Virgin Mother.

Now and ever ...
Kondak of Nativity, Tone 4

By your birth, Most-Pure Virgin, Joachim and Anna were freed from childlessness. And Adam and Eve from the corruption of death. We, your people celebrate this, delivered from the guilt of sin, as we chant to you "A barren woman gives birth to the Birth-Giver of God, the Mother of our life."

Epistles

Deacon: Wisdom!

Reader: The reading is from the Letter of St. Paul to the Galatians.

Deacon: Let us be attentive.

Reader: Brethren, see with what large letters I have written to you with my own hand! As many as desire to make a good showing in the flesh, these would compel you to be circumcised, only that they may not suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. For not even those who are circumcised keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may boast in your flesh. But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation. And as many as walk according to this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God. From now on let no one trouble me, for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus. Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.

Deacon: Wisdom!

Reader: The reading is from the First Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians.

Deacon: Let us be attentive.

Reader: Brethren, watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. Let all that you do be done with love. I urge you, brethren—you know the household of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have devoted themselves to the ministry of the saints— that you also submit to such, and to everyone who works and labors with us. I am glad about the coming of Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus, for what was lacking on your part they supplied. For they refreshed my spirit and yours. Therefore acknowledge such men. The churches of Asia greet you. Aquila and Priscilla greet you heartily in the Lord, with the church that is in their house. All the brethren greet you. Greet one another with a holy kiss. The salutation with my own hand—Paul's. If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. O Lord, come! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.

Deacon: Wisdom!

Reader: The reading is from the Letter of St. Paul to the Galatians.

Deacon: Let us be attentive.

Reader: Brethren, it is written that Abraham had two sons: the one by a bondwoman, the other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and he of the freewoman through promise, which things are symbolic. For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar—for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children— but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all. For it is written: "Rejoice, O barren, You who do not bear! Break forth and shout, You who are not in labor! For the desolate has many more children Than she who has a husband." Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise. But, as he who was born according to the flesh then persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, even so it is now. Nevertheless what does the Scripture say? "Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman." So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman but of the free.

Priest: Peace be with you.

Reader: And with your spirit. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

Verse: I raised up a chosen one from My people.

Verse: For My Hand shall defend him and My Arm will strengthen him.

Verse: The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their refuge in the time of trouble.

Instead of "It is right in truth"

Magnify, my soul, the Virgin Mary, the glorious Nativity of the Mother of God.

Irmos Tone 8: Virginity is alien to mother-hood and childbearing is foreign to virgins. Yet, in you Birth-Giver of God, both are found. Therefore, all the nations of the earth unceasingly magnify you.

Communion Verses

Praise the Lord from the heavens, praise Him in the Highest. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous, praise befits the upright. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.
