Propers for November 12, 2023

Nov. 12 – 23rd Sunday after Pentecost. Tone 6

Hieromartyr Zenobius and his sister Zenobia of Aegae, Cilicia (285). Apostles Tertius, Mark, Justus, and Artemas of the Seventy (1st c.). Hieromartyr Marcian, bishop of Syracuse (2nd c.). Martyr Eutropia of Alexandria (220). Martyr Anastasia of Thessalonica (3rd c.).

Eph. 2:4-10 ; Lk. 8:26-39;

Tropar Resurrectional, Tone 6

The angelic powers were at Your Tomb. The guards became as dead men. Mary stood by Your Grave seeking Your Most Pure Body. You captured Hades, not being tempted by it. You came to the Virgin, granting Life, Lord, risen from the dead, glory to You.

Tropar of our church, Tone 4

Prophet and Forerunner of the coming of Christ,/ we who honor you with love can find no manner of praising you worthily./ For the barrenness of one who bore you / and the silence of your father have been ended by your being born of divine grace / and you have proclaimed to the world / the Incarnation of the Son of God.

Tropar to Zenobius, Tone 4

O glorious Zenobius and pure Zenobia, / as siblings united in godliness, / you contested together, and obtained incorruptible crowns; / you are also worthy of everlasting glory, / for together you shine forth upon those in the world with the grace of healing.

Kondak Resurrectional, Tone 6

When Christ God, the Giver of Life, with His Life-giving Hand raised all of the dead from the valleys of misery, He bestowed Resurrection on the human race. He is the Savior, the Resurrection, the Life and the God of all.

Kondak of our church, Tone 3

She who was previously barren / now bears the Forerunner of Christ / who is the fulfillment of every prophecy. / For the prophets proclaimed beforehand / that having laid hands on Him in the Jordan, / he would be manifest as Prophet, / Preacher / and Forerunner of the Word of God.

Glory …
Kondak to Zenobius, Tone 8

With God-inspired hymns, let us honor the two Martyrs and preachers of piety,/ Zenobius and the glorious Zēnobίa,/ who lived and suffered together / and through martyrdom, they have obtained incorruptible crowns.

Now and Ever …
Theotokion, Tone 6

Protection of Christians not put to shame,/ unwavering Mediation before the Creator;/ despise not the prayer of sinners,/ but because you are good, quickly come to help us who call on you in faith./ Be swift to intercede and make haste to supplicate, Birth-Giver of God,/ who always protects those who honor you.

Prokimen

Priest: Let us be attentive! Peace be with you all!

Reader: And with your spirit!

Deacon: Wisdom!

Reader: The Prokimen in Tone 6: O Lord, save Your people and bless Your inheritance.

Choir: (repeats the prokimen)

Reader: Verse: To You, Lord, will I call: "My God, be not silent to me."

Choir: (repeats the prokimen)

Reader: O Lord, save Your people …

Choir: … and bless Your inheritance.

Epistle

Deacon: Wisdom!

Reader: The reading is from the Letter of St. Paul to the Ephesians.

Deacon: Let us be attentive.

Reader: Brethren, God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Priest: Peace be with you.

Reader: And with your spirit. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

Verse: He that dwells in the aid of the Most High will abide in the shelter of the God of Heaven.

Verse: He will say to the Lord: my Helper are You and my Refuge. He is my God and I will hope in Him.

Communion Hymn

Praise the Lord from the heavens, praise Him in the Highest. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.
